y- Connecting to an internet server
To play Quake II against opponents on the internet, you have to be connected to the internet (minimum 28.8 connection speed).
Once you have started Quake II and have your player's profile set up (model, skin, player name) you are then ready to connect to a server.
Select Multiplayer and hit Enter.
This should bring you to the Multiplayer screen.

The Multiplayer menu allows you to make a few choices. If you already have your player's name and skin selected as mentioned earlier above, you can continue to connect to the server by selecting
"Join Network Server".
Select "Address Book" from the next menu. This is the area where you can add internet servers (IP addresses) to your address book. Once you have the server's IP address entered in one of the boxes, you can connect to a server by highlighting the server you want to join and hit your Enter key.
Another way to connect to a server is to press your tilde key "~" to bring down your console and type in "connect
". (without the quotes)
gets replaced with the IP address numbers, ie: 123.456.78.910. If a server requires a port# (default servers do not) then you will have to add it to the end of the server's IP address. ie: "connect 123.45.67.78.90123"
